GET TO KNOW
Get to know some of the wolves at the refuge.
Witko
Witko was given to a woman in Rhode Island. Two months later, he was running the house and she was unable to control him. She called animal control to place the wolfdog and was told they would confiscate and euthanize him. Rhode Island is one of the states where wolfdogs are illegal and animals are routinely put down, rather than placed in a state where they are legal and may be given refuge.
Nine months after Witko was given to Loki Clan, Keating received a picture from a Rhode Island shelter that had a young wolfdog that had been turned loose onto the streets. Keating recognized the animal to be Witko’s brother.
The refuge has now had Witko and Tahzay for seven years. The brothers are together in a pack with Silver, Icea and Sheeka. Witko is the alpha male and is very gentle and social with people.
