ATLAS

Atlas, the massive grey wolf at the front gate, was known as the greeter at Loki Clan.
At the age of six, Atlas was brought to the refuge from New Jersey with two other wolves.  After their owner was killed, the surviving family took over the house but neglected and confined the animals to kennels. Finally the wolves were surrendered to the refuge.

Atlas was so poorly socialized when he arrived he was unable to be integrated into any packs.  Keating then decided to pair him with Ishta, another lone misfit.  Atlas and Ishta spent 3 days keeping their distance, then as Keating put it, they fell in love.  They remained inseparable.

Atlas passed away at the age of 16 in his sleep.  Keating found him the morning of December 5th, 2009, in the snow. Some time that morning he had lain down peacefully, forever.
